In order to strengthen our Legal team, we are looking to hire a Paralegal, based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
In this position you will be reponsible to provide paralegal and administrative support to the General Counsel and Legal Group on a wide range of matters and issues including, but not limited to litigation, contracts, franchise/network development, policies and procedures, budget and licensing. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 6 years of experience, strong organization and multitasking skills, and will embrace a team mentality.
As part of the team, your main responsiblities will be:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain Legal Group’s documents, files and databases.
- Provide support to the Legal Group during pre-litigation and litigation processes, and customer demands regarding consumer warranty and product liability matters, including responding to subpoenas and customer buy-back or financial assistance demands.
- Gather evidence from cross-functional business teams and manage discovery requests during litigation.
- Support the legal aspects of network development, including the establishment of new dealerships, buy/sell transactions, and the termination of existing dealerships.
- Assist in the high-level review of a variety of legal contracts, such as license agreements, vendor agreements and confidentiality agreements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to distributor and business licensing and service agreements, including maintenance and renewal of same licenses annually.
- Conduct legal research on various legal topics related to the automotive industry, including contracts, regulatory compliance, franchise laws, intellectual property, and litigation.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of Legal Group’s annual budgets for legal services, including allocation of funds to various legal matters and vendors; monitor legal expenditures against approved budgets, providing regular updates to General Counsel and Finance Group.
- Assist in diligence for potential new business vendors/partners and liaise with Finance Group regarding on-boarding process.
- Draft and process purchase orders (PO) for goods and services required by the Legal Group; ensure that POs are issued timely and in accordance with FNA policies and procedures.
- Review invoices from external counsel/vendors for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with billing guidelines; process approved invoices for payment, including obtaining necessary approvals and ensuring timely submission to Finance Group.
- Handle general administrative tasks.
- Other related duties and activities as required.
In order to succeed in this challenging role 4-year college graduate with strong academic record preferred; Associate degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent relevant experience also considered. New Jersey Notary Public preferred
The following skills are required to perform the role: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, PowerPoint and Westlaw/Lexis. Strong comprehension and drafting skills. Deadline and detail-oriented. Extremely organized, with excellent follow-through, communication skills, and a self-starter mindset. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
