We are looking for a dedicated intern in our R&D Electric & Electronics Systems team. The ideal candidate, working within the Vehicle Experimentation Department, is passionate about network communication protocols (Automotive Ethernet, CAN/CAN-FD, LIN) and automation procedures within the automotive industry. The main goal of this internship is to work directly on physical vehicle sections to test, automate, and improve the reliability of the validation phases for electronic components.

 

You will cooperate in different activities, including: 

  • Develop automated test procedures, ensuring the correct functionality and integration of the Electronic Control Units (ECUs) directly on physical vehicle sections.
  • Define strategies to identify early-stage bugs by analysing real-time network communication (CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet) across the electronic backbone.
  • Design and implement user interfaces or custom tools to interact with the test setups, monitor test executions, and visualize diagnostic data.
  • Create models to analyse documents, automate the generation of test lists, and convert them into computer-executable scripts.

 

Required profile

 

For this fundamental role, we are ideally looking for a recent Master graduate or current Master student (eligible for internship) or in your final year in Electronic, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Automation engineering or equivalent.

 

You will not only have a passion for automotive and innovative solutions, but also already gained first work-experience through internships or projects (in automotive or luxury sectors) that allow you to understand business complexities and help you to develop your personal and communicative skills.

The effective completion of your daily tasks requires you to have:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Fluent English (mandatory)
  • Strong understanding of network communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, Modbus, UART, TCP/UDP), including topologies and signal integrity
  • Experience with Linux and embedded systems (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, STM32, ESP32)
  • Good knowledge of Python and its libraries; C is a plus
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment (e.g. soldering iron, oscilloscope) and data traffic analysis tools (CANalyzer, Wireshark)
  • Basic knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for building interfaces and dashboards (optional but highly recommended)
  • Strong teamwork, organizational and communication skills (Italian and English mandatory)
