In order to strengthen our Technologies & Infrastructures Department we are looking to hire a Vehicle Methods Engineering Technologist based in Maranello (Italy). You will participate in the activities of the product development teams as Vehicle Assembly Technologist.


As part of the team, you will be responsible of:

 

•    Analysing in detail the feasibility of assembling the components of the entire car using CAD (exterior trim, interior trim, chassis, mechanical units, electrical system, bodywork, chassis)
•    Collaborate with the Design department by defining the correct breakdown of the style sketch for both interior and exterior trims 
•    Produce the assembly macro-cycle of new designs consistent with the constraints of the Ferrari assembly lines
•    Create and update the technological bill of materials
•    Elaborate virtual checks to ensure the correct accessibility of servos and manipulators that are needed to assemble the car components
•    Define assembly methods for all components, from which gap & flush documents and 2D drawings will be drawn up
•    Find technical solutions that bring advantages in terms of labour, assembly simplifications, perceived quality
•    Define make/buy logics for new projects that are consistent with the car initiative
•    Simplify the disassembly of the car's ‘core’ and most expensive components
•    Produce operation cards detailing all assembly stages
•    Propose design changes from a ‘design for manufacturing’ perspective, collaborating with the Product Development department


In order to succeed in this challenging role, you will ideally have achieved excellent academic results with a Master-degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. You should ideally have gained at least 3 years’ dedicated experience in one or more of the following areas: Manufacturing and/or R&D. Thorough knowledge of Catia V5 and the Office package is necessary to handle the required tasks. Willingness to travel to suppliers to discuss project progress.


In Ferrari you must exhibit the capability to work in a highly-dynamic and fast-changing environment, strong communication skills and accountability are important skillset to manage activities and responsibility of the role. It is important to be proactive proposing new solutions to optimize all the processes and activities. 
Fluent English is required for the position and Italian language skills are an advantage. We appreciate individuals with experience outside their country of origin, allowing for a multicultural mindset.
