In order to strengthen our Vehicle Engineering Department we are looking to hire a Thermal Specialist based in Maranello (Italy). You will will be involved in the Climatic Wind Tunnel (GdVC, Thermo-Fluid Dynamics Department, Vehicle Area), you will supervise experimental activities, setups, issue test reports, and support the Thermal Facilities Manager in managing and developing staff and facilities.


The main responsibilities are in the following areas:


Testing
• Knowledge of measurement instruments and data acquisition systems, their limits, and advantages for each application
• Management of the Climatic Wind Tunnel test calendar, liaising with the Experimentation department
• Supervision of tests in GdVC
• Supervision of vehicle instrumentation for tests in GdVC and/or on the road
• Data analysis and issuance of thermal reports
• Support in defining and updating test standards
• Support to the Thermal Specialist (Calculation) for verifying the achievement of Virtual Approval targets
• Support to the TFD Specialist for verifying setup and significance of vehicles • Support to the Thermal Facilities Manager in managing hour logging

Facilities and Interface with Staff

• Knowledge of GdVC, in the HW and SW subsystems that compose it and in the interaction between them, and between them and the test object
• Support in managing the facility and acquisition systems
• Support in research and development of sensors and data acquisition systems
• Support in managing the cold room in Fiorano
• Support in managing the logistics of the TFD department
• Supervision of the phases of vehicle instrumentation and preparation
• Support to the Thermal Facilities Manager for engagement programs and improvement proposals

In order to succeed in this challenging role, you will ideally have achieved excellent academic results with a Master-degree in Engineering. You should ideally have gained at least 2 years’ dedicated experience in thermal exchange and applied thermodynamics topics. 
In Ferrari you must exhibit the capability to work in a highly-dynamic and fast-changing environment, strong communication skills and accountability are important skillset to manage activities and responsibility of the role. It is important to be proactive proposing new solutions to optimize all the processes and activities. To perform in the role, you must have a natural inclination for teamwork, decision-making, and a genuine curiosity towards experimentation that drives you to improve processes involving both potential new data acquisition systems and testing itself. You must be skilled and critical in evaluating the representativeness of the test object.
Fluent English is required for the position and Italian language skills are an advantage. We appreciate individuals with experience outside their country of origin, allowing for a multicultural mindset.
